Beneath The Edge

Situated on the southern edge of the Brecon National Park in Wales, Dan-y-Darren, a former limestone quarry, is today maintained as a Wildlife Site by new owners Alternative Services in conjunction with the neighbouring Brecknock nature reserve.

Part of the Cefn Cilsanws mountain, Dan-y-Darren offers nature lovers breathtaking views of the Welsh valleys to the south and the Llwyn-On reservoir to the north as well as interesting bird and plant species.

Depending upon which Welsh language expert we speak to, Dan-y-Darren roughly translates to "under the escarpment" or "Beneath the Edge"

Each year Dan-y-Darren plays host to the prestigious Pro Archery Series. In 2014 the high profile Cilsanws Challenge - USA versus Europe team event (11th September) will run a couple of days before the Alternative Welsh Masters (13/14th September).

We have an agreement from the local authorities for the public footpath to be closed during this period.
